Banteay Kdei means “Citadel of Chambers” with the chambers referring to monk’s abodes. It was again built by Jayavarman VII and is an example of the Bayon architectural style-similar to Ta Prohm and Preah Khan. Banteay Kdei was used by monks throughout the ages up until the 1960s.

The structures are contained within two successive enclosure walls and two concentric galleries pointed with tall towers. Many original carvings remain.
